Only the sound

“It is only the sound of running water. / But I never grow tired of listening to it.”

English:

“It is only the sound of running water,
But I never grow tired of listening to it.”

Thus wrote Po Chü-i (772-846), one of the most renowned Chinese poets of the T’ang Dynasty. With these words in mind the camera goes exploring the present day Beijing, where in the midst of the dense crowds one can still encounter small oases for comtemplation and stimulation of the senses. These situations are photographed by Lars Movin, after which Niels Plenge has made a soundtrack that integrates the sounds from the video recordings with a musical score.
Only the Sound is China in our eyes and ears – an audiovisual composition resounding the Chinese cultural landscape.
It is only the sound of life, but we never grow tired of listening …
